Video visits in the chart
JotMeet holds the telehealth visit inside the patient's chart. The patient joins from one link, nobody installs anything, and the session ends where the note begins.
JotMeet is JotPsych's telehealth: video visits that run from the same encounter page a clinician already records and documents in. This piece walks through what the patient sees, what the provider sees, and how to make it the default for a visit type.
The second-system problem
Telehealth held in a separate video tool taxes both sides of the visit. The provider signs into another system and keeps the chart open somewhere else. The patient gets asked to download an app, create an account, or fight a permissions screen while the clock runs on the appointment. And the session itself happens away from the chart, so documentation starts over from memory once the call ends.
What the patient does
When an appointment is marked as telehealth, the confirmation text or email carries the join link. Clicking it opens the visit in the patient's browser and nothing else happens first: no download, no account, no login.
- 1The confirmation text or email carries the join link
- 2The patient clicks it: no app, no account, no login
- 3The provider admits them and the visit starts in the chart

Walk-ins get a waiting room
Scheduled visits are not the only door. Every provider also has a walk-in waiting room at their own link: the patient checks in with their name, tests their camera and microphone, and holds a place in a live queue until the provider admits them. The screen keeps the patient oriented the whole time, from "Accepting patients now" at check-in to "your provider will be with you shortly" in the queue, so on-demand telehealth does not need an appointment on the books first.
What the provider sees
The provider runs the visit from the encounter page, the same screen that records the session and drafts the note. Inside the call: speaker, grid, and spotlight layouts, screen sharing, text chat with the patient, recording controls, and the queue of waiting patients to admit. When the visit ends there is no second system to close out of, and the documentation is already where it belongs.
Make it the default
Appointment types carry a visit mode: in person, phone, or video. A video type shows one more switch, "Hold these visits over JotMeet by default," so every appointment booked on that type opens as a JotMeet visit without anyone deciding twice.
The so-what
- Pick one visit type and flip it to JotMeet this week. Follow-ups are the natural first pick: high volume, low ceremony, and the note drafts from the same screen as the call.
- Give the front desk the walk-in link. A patient who calls needing to be seen today goes into the waiting-room queue instead of onto a callback list.
Hold the visit where the note happens.
